To ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery, please follow the recommendations below after your procedure.
Cold Compresses
During the first 12 hours after the procedure, we recommend applying cold compresses to the cheek or lip above the treated area. Hold the cold compress in place for 30 minutes, then take a 30-minute break. Repeat this cycle until bedtime, as it helps reduce swelling and postoperative discomfort.
Medication
Take antibiotics and pain medication exactly as instructed by our dental team. Do not alter the prescribed treatment or stop taking your medication without consulting us first.
Diet
After the procedure, we recommend consuming soft, pureed, and liquid foods that are not hot. Avoid very hot food and beverages, as they may irritate the treated area and interfere with the healing process.
Oral Hygiene
Brush your teeth as usual using a toothbrush and toothpaste. Maintaining good oral hygiene is important for proper healing and for preventing potential infections.
Rest and Physical Activity
Spend the rest of the day resting and avoid strenuous physical activities. Keep talking to a minimum, and avoid excessive laughing, wide mouth opening, and repeatedly checking the treated area in the mirror.
What Is Normal After the Procedure?
A small amount of blood in your saliva, mild swelling, and slight discomfort are normal after oral surgery. You may also experience numbness of the lip, cheek, or surrounding area due to the local anesthetic. This sensation can last for several hours after the procedure and is considered normal.
