When you decide to begin the treatment with clear aligners, we conduct X-rays, capture photographs, and take impressions of your teeth, which are sent to the manufacturer along with our instructions on how we want the teeth to move. Technicians input the information into the computer to generate a 3D representation of your teeth and a computer model illustrating how they will shift to the desired positions. It typically takes around a month for the aligners to reach our office.
The aligners are worn in a specific sequence, typically for about two weeks each. As your treatment progresses, each new aligner will serve to bring your teeth into a more correct, optimal position. It is recommended to wear the aligners continuously (24/7), but you can take them off for eating or brushing your teeth, as well as on special occasions. This way, the alignment of your teeth will progress according to the plan.
After completing orthodontic therapy and removing the braces, the retention phase follows, which is equally important as wearing the appliance (braces). A tooth retainer is crafted based on the patient’s dental impression and is made of hard, transparent plastic, making it almost invisible. Its role is to maintain the teeth in their corrected position.
The treatment lasts at least 6 months, and the duration varies from case to case. The good thing is that results become noticeable within a few weeks of wearing foils for teeth straightening.
