Oral surgery is a branch of dentistry that deals with the application of surgical methods to treat hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity. These procedures are mostly done under local anesthesia and are painless.
In rare cases, in addition to local anesthesia, a sedative is needed. This usually happens when the patient has an irrational fear of the procedure.
Oral surgery
There are many types of oral surgery, including procedures like tooth extractions or root canal surgeries. Some oral surgeries involve jaw repositioning or tumor removal.
If a tooth can’t be treated, it’s removed. Sometimes, only the tooth is extracted, and other times, the root and nerve are also removed.
If a wisdom tooth that has grown above the gums or embedded into the jawbone needs to be removed, Dr. Minić’s Dental Clinic is the place to go.
A treatment to preserve the tooth and eliminate sources of infection that haven’t been adequately treated with root canal therapy. This procedure avoids tooth extraction. It’s conducted under local anesthesia and is completely painless and safe for the patient.
This refers to the procedure of removing cysts from the jaw. These can be developmental or inflammatory.
Sinus Issues
One should remember that teeth and their roots are connected to sinus canals which can significantly endanger oral health.
An oral surgical procedure aimed at increasing the bone height of the upper jaw in the premolar or molar area. This procedure prepares the site for future dental implant placement. Reasons for this procedure include:
The surgical procedure is preceded by a 3D scan analysis. The procedure starts with a surgical cut on the gums. The surgeon then lifts the flap, exposing the sinus’s lateral bone wall. An opening (a “window”) is made on the sinus wall, covered by a thin mucosal membrane. The membrane is carefully lifted and separated from the sinus’s bone walls, and bone (BIOSS) is placed in the newly created space. This increases the bone mass at the future implant site. After a period of 3-6 months, the implant itself is placed. This surgical intervention is performed under local anesthesia and is completely safe and painless for the patient.
A procedure to correct irregularities on the jawbone and soft tissues. This creates optimal conditions for prosthetic replacement. Pre-prosthetic surgery includes procedures like leveling of the alveolar ridge, removal of hypertrophied soft tissue, plastic surgery of the vestibular groove, and reimplantation.
